Dr. Louise Brown is a co-founder and CEO of HydGene Renewables, a deep-tech synthetic biology startup founded in 2020. HydGene specialises in carbon-negative hydrogen production from renewable biomass sources using an innovative engineered biocatalyst solution.  Prior to her role at HydGene, Louise held an academic position at Macquarie University. She has more than 20 years’ experience in the bioengineering of complex protein systems and has played a leading role in establishing synthetic biology in Australia with a focus on chemical manufacturing.
