Martijn has more than 25 years of experience in the development and management of ports and offshore terminals. Martijn has a mechanical engineering background, majored in port logistics and has gained experience in all facets of marine facilities: operations, shipping and development including design, financing, partnering, environmental procedures and stakeholder management. Main focus has been Oil & Gas related projects with a specific focus on LNG and more recently on Hydrogen. In 2006 Martijn set up a successful new business unit Oil & Gas terminals for Dutch consultancy firm Royal HaskoningDHV. 2 years later he moved to Vietnam to implement a business plan for a new regional Business Unit for Port & Maritime Consultancy in South East Asia. Within 8 years they managed to become the leading port consultant of the region with offices in 5 countries. His last year in South East Asia Martijn fulfilled the role of Project Director for Myanmar’s new Deep seaport for a local Oil & Gas company. Back in the Netherlands Martijn started for the Port of Rotterdam as Project Manager for the port’s Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) project Porthos. In these last 2 roles he led multi-disciplinary teams on projects towards an investment decision. Martijn’s latest assignment at the Port of Rotterdam is to accelerate the development of new International Hydrogen Supply chains to the Port of Rotterdam. Specific activities include creating strategic partnerships with the first Hydrogen exporting countries and projects around the world, close cooperation with relevant Ministries, Matchmaking offtakers and suppliers and supporting the development of hydrogen export port facilities. With the ultimate aim of establishing Rotterdam as the new Hydrogen Hub of Europe.
